Julie Greenberg, ND: "A Spotlight on Women’s Dermatological Issues: Updates in Diagnosis and Treatment of Hair Issues"

Sex-related differences in anatomy and physiology mean that female patients can face different dermatological issues than male patients. This presentation will focus on conditions that are more prevalent in female patients including: eczema, adult acne, wrinkles, and hair loss. We will discuss the latest research on why these diseases affect female patients more than males, as well as evidence-based alternative and pharmaceutical approaches to treatment.

Dr. Julie Greenberg is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and Registered Herbalist RH(AHG) who specializes in integrative dermatology. She is the founder of the Center for Integrative Dermatology, a holistic clinic that approaches skin and hair problems by finding and treating the root cause. Dr. Greenberg holds degrees from Northwestern University (BA), Stanford University (MBA) and Bastyr University (ND). While at naturopathic medical school, Dr. Greenberg received training with leading experts in dermatology at the University of Washington Medical School Dermatology Clinic and Seattle Children’s Hospital Pediatric Dermatology Clinic. She lectures at naturopathic medical schools and speaks at conferences across the U.S. on the topics of hair, skin, and nails. Dr. Greenberg is also a Board Member and the Program Chair for the Naturopathic & Integrative Dermatology Series at LearnSkin, a 20 course CME program for doctors that discusses evidence-based alternative approaches to treating dermatological conditions.

Cynthia Bye, ND, FABNO with Charissa Bausch, ND: "Gynecological Cancers"

Dr. Bye and Dr. Bausch will be talking on their work with cancer patients. Dr. Bye is a Naturopathic physician who is board certified in Naturopathic Oncology. She has a practice in Vancouver WA. She is NUNM alumni, where she completed her thesis on Breast Cancer in addition to her ND degree. She completed a residency at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Dr. Bye is a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO). She is a board member of the Complementary and Alternative Medical Practitioners (CAMP), and on the advisory board for the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of SW Washington and Oregon. She is a past board member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Dr. Bye works with Cancer patients and those who want to reduce their risk factors for Cancer, through a holistic and complementary approach. Her Cancer patients have an Oncologist on their team for standard Oncology care. She works with her patients to improve general health and to establish customized protocols to complement and minimize side effects from standard Oncology treatments. She also works with remission and proactive cancer interventions. The majority of Oncology patients are using some form of complementary or alternative care, most of which is garnered from the internet and they are not telling their Oncologist. This can be dangerous. As such, Dr. Bye works with her patients to make sure that they are getting the best coordination of Integrative Oncology (also known as Alternative Oncology or Complementary Oncology) care from a qualified source.

Kimberly Windstar, MEd, ND: "Breast Cancer" (working title)

From Dr. Windstar's NUNM webpage: "When I discovered Naturopathic Medicine it was a perfect fit, incorporating conventional wisdom with the foundation of natural medicine, naturopathic philosophy and mind/body medicine. One of the most important aspects of medicine that appealed to me was the doctor-patient relationship.

As a Naturopathic Physician I use every modality available and apply them based on a patient’s presentation and pathology. I am particularly interested in unearthing obstacles and applying energy medicine such as homeopathy, holistic pelvic floor therapy, flower essences and counseling tools to help patients open to the wounded places to allow light and love to facilitate deep healing.

I have specialized in women’s health for 30 years including specialty procedures such as colposcopy and other reproductive biopsy procedures. I created and supervised six women’s health mentor student teaching shifts with a residency position as well for 15 years at the NUNM Main Clinic. Students were mentored for a full year and followed patients throughout that time learning how to diagnose, treat and manage long term women’s health cases. Over the past five years I have been added teaching Mindful Self-Compassion and been incorporating mindfulness in many classes I teach imparting tools that will ultimately decrease the likelihood of physician burnout and increase a future physicians modality toolbox with patients."
