Anjum Usman Singh, MD : Pediatric Detoxification FAAFP, ABIHM, Hom-C, FMAPS

As a childhood illness presents with complexity or any enduring challenge, detoxification becomes an important recourse to add to treatment, and this aspect of a young person’s recovery needs can be under attended to, and even ignored. Dr. Usman-Singh is very experienced in pediatric challenges and will help us process pediatric detoxification it relates to many children’s recovery.

Air quality is worsening overall due to climate change. Ground level ozone and particulates in the air are increasing. Wildfires are happening more frequently and affecting more and more of the population. We know these fires increase acute AND chronic respiratory and cardiovascular illness. This presentation will review the most common toxicants that pollute our air, their associated health effects and exposure sources, and solutions to improve indoor air quality. There will also be an emphasis on wildfire smoke and ways to properly protect yourself during smoke events.

Practicing at the Institute of Complementary Medicine in Seattle, WA, Dr. Carvlin specializes in helping patients get to the root cause of many environmentally acquired illnesses. She works alongside Environmental Medicine leaders to educate clinicians and increase public awareness of environmental health issues.

Claire Zimmerman, ND, RH(AHG): Getting started with EM - Clinical Approaches to Complex Illness

Don't get overwhelmed! EM is an important aspect of diagnostics and treatment but can feel overwhelming. In this lecture Dr. Zimmerman will help us think about where and how to get started with this treatment piece - so that an viable approach and overwhelm can be situated.

Claire Zimmerman, ND, RH(AHG), is a naturopathic physician and herbalist practicing in Seattle, WA at Seattle Naturopathy and Acupuncture Center. She is adjunct faculty at Bastyr University and runs the Environmental Medicine specialty shift at Bastyr’s teaching clinic. Julie Logan, DC: CIRS - Review and Update on Mycotoxins as the Hidden Cause of Inflammatory Illness

Naturopaths and integrated care practitioners are well aware that Mycotoxin exposure is more common than previously thought, and in genetically susceptible individuals, can lead to crippling illness, including worsening neuroimmune conditions such as PANS/PANDAS. We are discovering more and more frequently that many of our patients with severe inflammation, allergies, compromised immune function, Mast Cell Activation Disorders, Autism, Pandas, Lyme diagnoses, etc. are actually dealing with a mold exposure that has been undetected - creating the inflammatory storm that underlies many of these conditions. Unresolved inflammation and severe symptoms in many body systems is the hallmark of this disease, earning the name Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS).

We will review and update ourselves on biotoxin mediated illness, which can look and act just like Lyme disease, and often goes along with, or is caused by, a Lyme infection. In this discussion Dr, Logan will discuss the discovery, diagnosis, and treatment of this illness, and discuss its possible relationship to PANS/PANDAS as well as its role in Autism severity and morbidity in the adult population.

Dr. Julie Logan DC practices with Dr. Anju Usman Singh at True Health Medical Center in Naperville, IL. She is a fully MAPS trained and mentored physician who specializes in working with children with the symptoms of Autism, ADD/HD, PANDAS/PANS, food sensitivities, thyroid problems, methylation defects, GI issues, allergies, and environmental illnesses Over the last few years she has explored the connection between Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) and the PANS/PANDAS Symptom Picture. She applies both biomedical as well as chiropractic principles of restoring optimal health to her patients. She has successfully battled some of these conditions and problems in her own health as well as resolving the symptoms of autism in one of her own children. This has given her a heart to help others who are suffering from the same.

Jason Porter, NMD: Small Fiber Neuropathy: A Closer Look at Neurology and Environment Medicine

Dr. Porter has developed insight relevant to EM and neuro-immunological challenges. He will use Small Fiber Neuropathy a guide, to help us study, track and analyze the relationship of neurology and environmental toxicants. Small Fiber Neuropathy (SFN) is a trending subset of peripheral neuropathy present in young patients creating significant disability. The relationship of neurology and environmental toxicity is important as a means of assessing many other illnesses, so this lecture offers an excellent foundation for clinical support of your patients who bring this concern to your practice.

Dr. Jason Porter is a 2003 graduate of the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (recently renamed Sonoran University) in Tempe, Arizona, USA. He is the co-founder of East Valley Naturopathic Doctors and the Brain Regeneration Clinic both located in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Porter is credited for development of a precision-based clinic for brain rehabilitation and for optimization of peak performance using Biofeedback techniques including EEG targeted Neurofeedback therapy as a Board Certified Neurotherapist (BCN). Dr. Porter has significant advanced training courses relevant to supporting his patients and Dr. Porter’s education and professional training continues through many organizations including the International Society on Neurofeedback and Regulation (ISNR).

In his private practice, Dr. Porter focuses on the treatment and recovery from chronic illness by restoring function to the endocrine, immune, and central nervous systems. He has developed a unique process for evaluating and treating chronic illness, that allows severely ill patients to recover from hopeless and confusing conditions. Dr. Porter has been able to infuse naturopathic medicine modalities with Neurofeedback and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to improve cognition, mood, energy, sleep, and stress response, allowing chronically ill children and adults to return to optimal brain functioning.

Dr. Porter resides in Gilbert, Arizona, USA, with his wonderful wife, five children, two awesome daughter-in-laws, and three very cute grand-daughters.
